Canyoning is the supreme adventure that gives you the ultimate adrenaline rush while still remaining safe. It is the bigger brother of rappelling, also known as abseiling in the UK and Europe. The important difference is the presence of a waterfall, which is actually the essence of this experience.

Baños de Agua Santa, more commonly known as Baños, is a major tourist centre in Ecuador. Thrill-seekers can spend 4 to 5 hours canyoning in organised tours, and the only thing they have to bring is courage. Professional trainers provide almost everything else that is needed, such as equipment, transportation and even lunch.

Chamana Waterfall can be rappelled as a single segment or as part of a longer tour, which includes sections of Río Blanco. The descent starts with a 15 m (49 ft) drop, followed by another two drops of 10 m (33 ft) and 6 m (20 ft). The cherry on top comes in the form of the last abseil of 45 m (148 ft), so this adventure is not really for the faint-hearted
