Just because winter is so stubborn this year, climbing on the mountain all the way to Bucura Lake can be a real challenge for the outdoor enthusiasts. Situated at 2,040 m (6,692 ft) in Retezat National Park, Bucura Lake is the biggest glacier lake in Romania, and consists one of the main touristic attractions in Retezat Mountains (it is located between the Peleaga Peak and the Bucurei hill).
You can find a few places to camp overnight or you can choose to stay at one of the cabins you'll find on your way to the lake. Dont' forget to take your warm clothes and sleeping bags; the temperatures often drop below zero during the night.
A 9-day guided tour helps you discover many of the amazing natural treasures of Retezat National Park and also some beautiful places around this stunning outdoor attraction.
