We don't often hear news from Gabon, but it is one of the best African eco-tourist destinations. More than 10% of its territory is designated as national park and its remote forests and parks are filled with wildlife and flora. A safari trip in Gabon is a unique experience, quite different from a safari in southern or east Africa, because most trails are off the beaten track.
You can start your safari adventure in Loango National Park, the jewel of Africa's western coast with its 1,550 km² of savanna, pristine beach, forest and mangroves; and the unique opportunity to observe elephants, hippos, buffalos, gorillas and leopards. Another reason for visiting it is the fact that tourism in the region pays for all of Loango National Park’s conservation programs.
If you're feeling especially adventurous, you can also organise a trip to Wonga-Wongue Presidential Reserve, where the Survival show was taped.
