One of France’s nine national parks, Écrins is situated in the south east of the country and covers 930 km2 (230,000 acres) of spectacular Alpine scenery. With more than 100 summits over 3,000 m high, the park attracts over 800,000 visitors annually who come for the climbing, walking and superb skiing in winter.
There are hundreds of kilometers of well-marked walking trails dotted with alpine huts and also over 500 km of streams, rivers and waterfalls for rafting, kayaking and canyoning. All in all, Écrins National Park truly is a paradise for the serious outdoor enthusiast.
