Bembridge Beach is at Ryde, on the easternmost point of Isle of Wight. It is actually made up of a series of beaches, which are variously pebbled and sand, interspersed with rocky pools at low tide, which provide plenty of scope for children to enjoy crabbing, cockling and exploring marine life.
The beaches are surrounded by sea on three sides. To the south lies the Bembridge ledge, scene of many ships going aground. Activities include swimming and sailing - there are two local sailing clubs. There is also a busy harbour, where swimming is not safe.
