Bla Bheinn (also known as Blaven) is one of Britain’s best mountains, much sought after by mountaineers and scramblers, and is located on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. It stands in isolation at an elevation of 928 m (3,045 ft) and has a prominence of 863 m (2,831 ft).
It rises spectacularly above Loch Slapin, and its usual ascent begins from the east here. Initially, there is a good path, but the walking gets tougher with loose scree and stones and some mild scrambling required. The summit is marked by an Ordnance survey trig point and those reaching the top are rewarded with a stunning panorama of Loch Slapin, Torrin and the Red Hills, Rum and much of the mainland North West Highlands beyond. There are plenty of opportunities for experienced mountain climbers on the main prow of this peak.
