Catrigg Force is a beautiful waterfall located near the village of Stainforth, in Ribblesdale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, England. The waterfall is found along the Stainforth Beck, a stream that flows through the limestone landscape of Ribblesdale.
The double-drop cascade lies deep within a wooded gorge and is a perfect secluded spot loved by everyone who finds it. The main waterfall has a vertical drop of about 6 m (approximately 20 ft). If you visit Catrigg Force after some rainfall it will most probably leave you in awe. And the pool at the base of Catrigg Force makes for one of Yorkshire’s best wild swimming spots.
The path to the waterfall is not flat, but it is well maintained. Nonetheless, if you want to swim in the pool, you’ll have to negotiate a short but narrow section of a rockier terrain.
For a walk to the fall, you can leave your car at Settle, where there is a National Park car park. From the same car park it is also only a short walk to Stainforth Force - another dramatic waterfall.
