About Falls of Foyers

About Falls of Foyers

Falls of Foyers is a very attractive waterfall on the River Foyers, which supplies Loch Ness, in Highland, Scotland. Its total height is 62m (165ft) and it is well worthy of a visit, even though the flow of water is not nearly as copious as it once was in Victorian times, before it was diverted to power an aluminium smelting plant on the shores of Loch Ness.

There are two viewing points at the base of a well-maintained but steeply sloping forested path leading from a small parking spot in the village of Foyers. The walk is lined with information boards giving the history of the village and the falls. Nearby, there are plenty of opportunities for forest and gorge walking. The site is unfortunately not suitable for disabled access or for those with reduced mobility.
