One of the largest beaches on the Lizard peninsula, Kennack Sands is a south east facing, Marine Conservation Society Recommended beach which forms part of the Gwendreath National Nature Reserve. It has a great deal of geological interest for visitors, for its serpentine and other pebbles not found anywhere else in the UK.
The shallow angle of the beach also results in a big tidal range, making it attractive to surfers; and snorkelers and divers benefit from excellent marine life and underwater wrecks to explore. The east side of the beach is separated from the west by Carn Kennack (a small hill) and a rocky outcrop, Caerverracks.
