About Kinder Scout

Kinder Scout is a popular hiking plateau in the Dark Peak District, Derbyshire, England. Part of the moor, is the highest summit in the Peak District. It offers excellent views on a clear day of the city of Manchester and the Greater Manchester conurbation, as well as Winter Hill and the mountains of Snowdonia in Wales. It can be accessed from the settlements of Hayfield and Edale. The Edale Cross stands immediately south of the plateau, under Kinder Low and on the former Hayfield to Edale route. The place has also a legend, The Mermaid's Pool, a small pool on the hill, which is said to be inhabitated by a mermaid who will give immortality upon who sees her on Easter Eve.
