About Lake Anterselva

Lake Anterselva is the third largest mountain lake of South Tyrol. It is located in Antholzertal in the municipality of Rasen-Antholz. Situated in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, the lake is famed for the beauty of its scenery, surrounded by rugged mountain peaks. It lies at a surface elevation of 1,642 m (~5,387 ft), and has a surface area of 0.44 km2 (0.16 sq mi). Its average depth is 25.5 m (83.6 ft) and 38 m (124.6 ft) at its deepest.

Flora and Fauna

The lake itself is surrounded by forests of conifers and the surrounding park features birds such as golden eagles and peregrine falcons and plants like the dwarf willow and sticky primrose.

Activities

Visitors can enjoy the nature trail around the lake, which includes descriptions of the nature seen in the area. There’s great cycling in the area, for example a 9 km (5.5 mi) tour from Anterselva di Sotto along the paved road to Anterselva di Mezzo and up to the lake (medium to challenging terrain).
