Llyn Idwal is a small natural lake with a surface of 11 ha (28 acres), near Cwm Idwal in the Glyderau mountains of Snowdonia, in Gwynedd county, Wales. Llyn Idwal is a small natural lake with a surface of 11 ha (28 acres), near Cwm Idwal in the Glyderau mountains of Snowdonia, in Gwynedd county, Wales. Its name comes after Prince Idwal Foel, a relative of one of the ancient kings of Wales, king Rhodri Mawr. This lake can be accessed easily, via a long paved walk from Ogwen Cottage on the main A5. A small pebble beach lies at the northern side of the lake, which is sometimes visited for recreation, swimming, although is a mountain lake, the waters can be cold and attention should be taken.
