Low-Newton-by-the-Sea Beach is a large, sandy beach located in a bay sheltered by an offshore reef and backed by dunes. It is in a relatively secluded position and is therefore often quiet. The many rock pools and rocky outcrops revealed by low tide make it great for children and nature lovers to explore. It is also popular for water sports including dinghy sailing, surfing, windsurfing and swimming.
It also attracts many bird watchers: the Newton Pool Nature Reserve is located nearby, which has two bird hides, one with disabled access. The fishing village of Low Newton is National Trust-owned and the surrounding area is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
