These two red sandy beaches join up at low to mid tide to form the longest stretch of sand in Torbay, which is known as the English Riviera. Paignton Sands features a pier with typical amusements and boating trips for fishing or simply admiring the Devon coastline from the harbour. Paignton Green backs the Paignton Sands and Preston Green backs Preston Sands, ideal grassy locations for football, cricket and other games. Both beaches are also used for swimming and water sports such as kite surfing and dinghy sailing. Both hold Blue Flag and Quality Coast Awards, while Preston Sands is also Marine Conservation Society Recommended.
