Stainforth Force is a waterfall located on the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Yorkshire, England. It is situated near the village of Stainforth, close to the town of Settle.
It is a 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) high cascade waterfall which becomes a popular tourist attraction in autumn when salmon are migrating up the river, leaping up the falls to reach the spawning grounds upstream. The best time to go to see the salmon leaping is between late September and November, after an outpour of rain.
The pool below the last fall is popular with wild swimmers. The waterfall is also a great spot for a picnic and paddle during the summer months, but tends to become overcrowded on sunny weekends and bank holidays.
