About Steel Fell

About Steel Fell

Steel Fell lies between Thirlmere and Grasmere at an elevation of 553 m (1,814 ft) and with a prominence of around 70 m (230 ft). Its parent peak is High Raise, and it is one of the several eastern ridges emanating from this higher fell. At the top of Steel Fell, there is a triangular plateau featuring numerous small tarns. The summit is called Dead Pike and is marked by a pile of reddish stones fashioned into a cairn. There are impressive views of Thirlmere and Blencathra to the north.
