About Stock Ghyll Force

Stock Ghyll Force is a waterfall located near the town of Ambleside in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England. The waterfall is formed by Stock Ghyll, a stream that flows through the town of Ambleside. It is easily accessible via a well-maintained footpath which also provides good access for wheelchairs, and you can find a disabled parking spot nearby.

The water of Stock Ghyll Force cascades down a series of rocky steps totalling 70 ft (21 m) in height. The stream divides into two channels at the top of the waterfall, and then into three, before they are again reunited. The fall is more dramatic after the rain but caution must be exercised as the path becomes slippery.

The waterfall is surrounded by woodland composed of mixed trees in which beech predominates, making it a beautiful spot for visitors and hikers. The area around Stock Ghyll Force offers opportunities for scenic walks and the waterfall itself is a popular subject for photographers and nature enthusiasts exploring the Lake District region.
