This beach is a favourite with families and hence can get extremely busy at peak season. The most centrally located of Southend's seven beaches, it lies close to the town centre and at the bottom of Southend Pier, said to be the longest pleasure pier in the world. There are a host of attractions and traditional seaside amusements nearby, with play equipment and a paddling pool for children. The beach is sandy and also very clean: it holds the Blue Flag and Quality Coast Awards and is Marine Conservation Society Recommended.
