Located within the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares in South America, the Torre Glacier is at the foot of Cerro Torre, with its ice of white and turquoise hue, small caves and deep holes funnelled out by water, makes a perfect destination for those who want to ice trek. A trek across this glacier provides an excellent view of the south face of Cerro Torre, Torre Egger, Standhardt and Mount Fitz Roy, amongst others.
Ideal for those looking for a chance to walk across an ice field, the Torre Glacier also serves as an excellent introduction to ice climbing. All that is required is a level of fitness equal to a trek across the ice. From October to April, mountain guides will take visitors aged 15 years and over for a 3 hour trek across the ice. Visitors can stay in the nearby El Chalten village, or base camps near the glacier. Equipment such as crampons and harnesses are provided by the guides.
