Of these two beaches, East Beach is the more popular, leaving Aldwick for visitors seeking a quieter place to spend the day. Both are a shingle beaches, although at low tide, the sea retreats a long way, revealing sand and rock pools. Both offer relatively safe swimming, making it suitable for families amongst others. Sailing and fishing are also popular pastimes.

Aldwick is a good location for fossil hunters. East Beach holds the Blue Flag Award and is Marine Conservation Recommended.
