Hengistbury West Beach in Bournemouth is a pebbles and shingle beach lying on the west side of Hengistbury Head, designated an Ancient Monument and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The beach itself stretches for one and a half kilometres and is recommended for its excellent water quality by the Marine Conservation Society.
Activities available include swimming and bathing and windsurfing, but note that there is no lifeguard on duty. Alternatively, there are some excellent walks along the largely undeveloped headland, guided by information boards.
