Southbourne Beach in Bournemouth is generally less used by visitors because of its distance from the town; however, it is much frequented by local people. It is a sandy beach with a few stony areas.
Facilities are good and a wide range of activities can be carried out here, including kayaking and canoeing, jet-skiing, sailing, surfing, water skiing and wind surfing. Swimming and fishing are also popular.
The cliffs that back the beach are significantly lower here than on some other Bournemouth beaches and there is easy access to the sand below. It has been awarded a Blue Flag for its high quality of environmental standards and is also Marine Conservation Society Recommended.
