About Brimham Rocks Country Park

About Brimham Rocks Country Park

Brimham Rocks Country Park is part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Beauty and is on Brimham Moor in Summerbridge near Harrogate.

The park features a whole host of unusual rock formations spread over an area of 160 ha (400 ac), some of which reach heights of nearly 30 m (98 ft). The rocks are millstone grit which has been eroded by the elements and many of the formations are named for shapes they resemble, such as the Sphinx, the Watchdog, the Idol and the Dancing Bear.

As well as climbing and walking through the paths that run through this landscape there are fantastic views over Nidderdale and plenty of woodland and heather moorland walks beyond.
