Charmouth West Beach is situated in Lyme Regis, Dorset. As it forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, it’s a great site for fossil hunters. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and pebbles and is divided in two by the mouth of the River Char. This is often dammed by the beach, forming a natural lagoon which ideal facilities for boating.

Charmouth West Beach is situated in Lyme Regis, Dorset. As it forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, it’s a great site for fossil hunters. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and pebbles and is divided in two by the mouth of the River Char. This is often dammed by the beach, forming a natural lagoon which ideal facilities for boating.
The sea is clean enough for swimmers, as recommended by the Marine Conservation Society, and sometimes offers good conditions for surfing. Hikers and walkers are well served by many interesting walks in the area.
