A reservoir and Cornwall’s second largest lake at 3.6 km2 (900 acres), Colliford lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Bodmin Moor. Water sports are not permitted on the lake, making it a peaceful scene for visitors who come to walk, fish and picnic. A trail around the 14 km lake perimeter leads to some lovely moorland walks; while those who love fishing can enjoy a day hunting brown trout in Cornwall’s best-known waters. Trails and footpaths lead to children’s play areas and wetlands, where a wide range of birdlife can be seen. The lake is one of 50 inland water sites managed by the South West Lakes Trust.
