Cowes Beach on the Isle of Wight stretches for over 3 km (2 mi) and is composed of shingle. Sailing and swimming are popular here – the beach’s location within the harbour offers sheltered conditions and shallow waters for family swimming in particular. There is also some great fishing to be had in and around the area. Many come to watch competitive sailing, particularly during Cowes Week, annually in the last week of July.
The waters have been tested and described as excellent by the Marine Conservation Society and the beach has been awarded the Quality Coast Award for its condition.
