In common with the neighbouring Durdle Door West Beach, the main feature here is the Durdle Door Arch, a much-photographed natural limestone arch. The beach here is narrow and composed of mixed shingle, gravel and sand. The arch protects the eastern end while a submerged offshore reef shelters the waters from swells.
The beach is Marine Conservation Society Recommended and the water quality is excellent for fishing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling and diving. For hikers, there are undulating cliff top walks along the Dorset Coast Path.
