Using a route from Langdale, Scafell Pike, Englans's highest mountain, can be climbed. The valley offers stunning views of Dungeon Ghyll Force Waterfall, Harrison Stickle and the Pike of Stickle. The area is known to archaeologists as the source of a particular kind of Neolithic polished stone axe head.
