If you are looking for a quiet spot in the busy Lake District region, Haverigg could be ideal. With nearly 5 km (3 mi) of sandy beach at the mouth of the Duddon Estuary, Haverigg offers wide open space for kite flying, horse riding or just relaxing. The beach is close to Hodbarrow RSPB Reserve, on the eastern shore of Cumbria’s largest coastal lagoon, where bird watchers can spot the great crested grebe and three species of tern. Wind surfing and boating are among the water sports activities undertaken here. On the doorstep of the Lake District National Park, there is plenty of excellent walking available.
