Higger Tor is a characteristic landmark of the Dark Peak, the higher and the wilder northern part of the Peak District, in Derbyshire, England. It is a hard, siliceous sandstone tor which overlooks the Burbage Valley and the iron age hill fort of Carl Wark. A tor is a wide free-standing rock outcrop which rises sharply from the surrounding smooth and gentle slopes of a rounded hill. Higger Tor offers stunning views towards Stanage Edge. It has the advantage of being easy to access, driving up from Hathersage is very little to climb to get to the top. The peak is high enough for snow to linger in the winter.
