About Little Langdale Tarn

About Little Langdale Tarn

Little Langdale Tarn is a natural tarn with a surface elevation of 103 m (338 ft) in a marshy area of the valley near the foot of Wrynose Pass. Along with the surrounding area of around 30ha, it was designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1965 for its varied habitats for wildlife.

Little Langdale Tarn is managed by the National Trust, and there is no public access, but it can be seen from the road or from the public bridleway along its southern shore. The nearest car park is about an hour’s walk away at Low Tilberthwaite.
