There is a fantastic, but long, walk around the Loch beginning at the River Affric car park, the circuit running for around 18 km (11.25 mi). This walk is mostly on good tracks and paths and passes through attractive pinewood and moorland landscapes above the loch, with excellent views of the high hills above.
It is situated in the Caledonian Forest Reserve, home to one of the largest remaining stretches of ancient Caledonian pine forest, and has been designated a National Scenic Area and a National Nature Reserve. The hills around are a popular destination for scramblers and mountain bikers.
