Longshaw Country Park encompasses 1,600 acres of heather moorland, parkland, ancient woodland and farmland within the Peak District National Park. Owned by the National Trust and situated on the moors above Hathersage, the site provides some fantastic walking opportunities with expansive views across the Peak District.
There’s plenty to explore, such as former millstone quarries and packhorse routes. Nature lovers have a chance of viewing red deer on Big Moor and a waterside walk runs along Burbage Brook through the wooded Padley Gorge, a starting point for many Peak District walks. Waymarked bridleways provide pathways for horse riding and cyclists.
An educational centre runs events throughout the year on the area’s wildlife, local history and the estate itself.
