Nab Scar stands above Rydal Water at an elevation of 455 m (1,493 ft) and a prominence of around 5 m (16 ft). It is an outlier of the Fairfield group of fells, actually little more than a high, steep bank on the southern ridge of Heron Pike. It is nonetheless listed separately as a Wainwright. Nab Scar stands above Rydal Water at an elevation of 455 m (1,493 ft) and a prominence of around 5 m (16 ft). It is an outlier of the Fairfield group of fells, actually little more than a high, steep bank on the southern ridge of Heron Pike. It is nonetheless listed separately as a Wainwright. The Fairfield Horseshoe ridge walk begins or ends here, and the most common route of ascent is from Rydal village, along a path up the ridge. There is a large cairn at the summit with extensive views to the west, particularly of the Central Fells.
