This west-facing beach is protected by the headlands on either side from big waves at mid to high tide. Along with a long tidal drop which reveals an expanse of sand at low tide, this makes it ideal for families. The Porth river flows into the sea alongside the headland to the north of the beach; and to the east, you will see Porth Island, accessible via a narrow footbridge. On the island are the remains of an Iron Age settlement and a blowhole, a hole at the inland end of a sea cave, out of which come blasts of water, particularly in windy weather.
