About Slapton Sands

About Slapton Sands

Slapton Sands and neighbouring Torcass Beach cover around 4.8 km (3 mi), giving plenty of room for visitors to spread out when holidaying here. The beach is pebbled and lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Beauty, and behind it lies Slapton Ley, a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest which features some interesting bird residents for bird watchers. The waters are clear and calm, making swimming, surfing, wind surfing, canoeing and kayaking, sailing and fishing all possible here. The beach is Marine Conservation Society Recommended and also of historical interest as the site of the infamous Exercise Tiger D-Day rehearsal during WWII.
