Tynemouth Long Sands South Beach

Tynemouth Long Sands Beach is around 1.6 km (1 mi) long, with fine golden sand backed by sand dunes. Activities taking place here include swimming, kayaking and canoeing as well as beach games. It is also well-known nationally as a surf destination and has staged national championships. Tuition and equipment hire is available locally. A promenade runs alongside the beach, which has won a Blue Flag Award and is Marine Conservation Society Recommended. It is extremely popular, especially in high season. Other attractions in the area include a park, Blue Reef Aquarium and a toy museum.
