About Worcester and Birmingham Canal

This canal is 48.3 km (30 mi) long with 58 locks and runs from the River Severn in Worcester to Gas Street Basin in Birmingham where it joins the Birmingham Canal Main Line. This is a highly popular route for pleasure craft and is part of the Avon and the Stourport Cruising Rings.

The canal travels through the rolling, rural countryside of Hertfordshire and the busy urban environment of Birmingham. The Worcester and Birmingham Canal Walk (50 km / 31mi) runs along the towpath and links the Severn Way in the south to the Grand Union Canal Walk at Birmingham.
