About Yew Tree Tarn

About Wise Een Tarn

Wise Een Tarn lies in the Claife Heights region of the Lake District and at 1.1 km (0.7 mi) long, is the second largest of a number of tarns sprinkled between Lake Windermere and Esthwaite Water. It is a quiet spot that offers superb views of the Langdale Pikes, Crinkle Crags and Bow Fell. Lying within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, there is varied wildlife, including the chance to spot red deer. However, because the tarn is important for its aquatic plants, including yellow iris and white water lily, fishing is not permitted.
