Beinn Dorain is one of the best known landmark hills of the Highlands, a huge conical peak which dominates view from the A82 when driving north from Tyndrum.
It is situated in the Bridge of Orchy hills in the Argyll and Bute region, and its height is 1,076 m (3,530 ft) with a prominence of 332 m (1,089 ft). It can be easily accessed from the Bridge of Orchy railway station, from where a path leads up to the mountain pass separating Beinn Dorain from Beinn an Dothaidh. This two ridges are usually scrambled together, to give an excellent hike up their craggy sides. The climb becomes much more complicated in fog.
