Bournemouth's Pier Beach is an 11 km (7 mi) long sandy beach at the heart of Bournemouth and is backed by the picturesque and famous Dorset cliffs. The beach has been granted the Quality Coast Award and is a Marine Conservation Society Recommended beach for the excellence of its water quality.

Activities available include swimming (some areas are designated watercraft-free), sailing, surfing, canoeing and sea kayaking, jet skiing, wind surfing, body boarding, power boating and water skiing. There are facilities for surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding lessons from beginner level onwards. Anglers can fish from a platform on the pier itself.
