Clwydian Range represents a series of hills and mountains, located in the nort east coast of Wales, which runs from Llandegla to Prestatyn. The peaks of these hills offer large views across North Wales, to the high summits of Snowdonia, across the Cheshire Plain, Peak District and Manchester and Liverpool. They are formed from an upstanding block of Silurian age sandstones, mudstones and siltstones. It includes a series of hills possessing Iron Age hill forts, a vast range of wildlife, such as red kites and red foxes. This AONB has been extended to include the Dee Valley. Both, Clwydian Range and Dee Valley, are the picturesque gateway of North Wales, embracing some of the Britain's most beautiful sceneries. Short walks are immediately rewarded with stunning views.
