Most water sports are forbidden, but rowing, kayaking and boating are allowed, as is fishing. The absence of heavy boat traffic and crystal clear waters make it ideal for swimming. To the south east, Scale Force is visible – the Lake District’s tallest waterfall and one of Crummock Water’s feeders. A number of paths lead up if you wish to view the falls at close quarters. There are breath-taking views of the fells, including Red Pike and Grassmoor.
