About Dunnet Bay Beach

Dunnet Bay Beach is a beautiful sweeping arc of white sandy beach backed by rolling sand dunes. The bay is pretty safe from the elements and gives good opportunities to sunbathe, paddle, swim, and other beach activities. The beach is a surfer’s paradise, which gives a dramatic surf when the winds are strong. There are good wildlife spotting opportunities in the bay as well. A visitor centre, situated towards the north end of the beach, supplies details of what can be seen. The bay is a place for many species of seabirds including oystercatchers, eider ducks, curlew and ringed plover. It is a fine place to go find shells, with many whelks and razor shells on the sand, too.
