Situated on the Wirral peninsula, Fort Perch Rock Beach takes its name from the Napoleonic coastal defence battery built in the nineteenth century, now a museum. The 1.2 km (0.75 mi) of flat, sandy beach has views over to Liverpool and the Irish Sea, and borders the sand dunes and nature reserves of North Wirral Coastal Park.
Activities from the beach include swimming and sea fishing with slipways for jet skiing and power boating. A marine lake has facilities for canoeing, kayaking and other water-based activities. Crab fishing and rock pooling are also popular with children.
