Hunstanton’s main beach attracts many more visitors than the quieter Old Hunstanton. It is known locally as 'Sunny Hunny' – it is the only resort on the east coast which faces west and therefore benefits from more sunshine than other beaches in the area. Backed by red and white striped cliffs, the tide exposes many rock pools at their base, as well as a long sandy beach. The wind conditions make it ideal for kite surfers and wind surfers. Nature lovers can take a boat to Seal Island to see some of the largest colonies of common seals in the world – come in winter if you want to see grey seals, though! The beach holds a Quality Coast Award.
