Loch Assynt is located in Sutherland, Scotland. It has a length of 9.65 km (6.0 mi) and about 1.5 km (0.9 mi) maximum width. The area is one of scenic natural beauty, covering some of the best landscapes in the Highland region, including the summits of Ben More, Canisp, Cul Beag, Cul Mor and Quinag. In the vicinity there are two National Nature Reserves, Inchnadamph and Inverpolly. The surroundings are well-known with anglers, the fishing being popular in angling literature spanning more than a century. There is good fishing for trout, sea-trout and salmon.
