The sandy beach is backed by huge limestone cliffs and features sea stacks and caves, carved by erosion, to explore, including the unusual Marsden Grotto pub. The area is also home to Marsden Rock, a 42 m (139 ft) sea stack internationally important for its sea bird colonies: bird watchers will see kittiwakes, fulmars, cormorants and gulls nesting here. Rock platforms and ledges offer good access for sea fishing at both high and low tide. Rock pools are plentiful and the beach is Marine Conservation Society Recommended.
