Menteith Lake is a lake on the Carse of Stirling, Scotland. It is not so deep and can freeze over entirely in exceptionally cold winters. There are a couple of small islands in the loch, the widest being Inchmahome, where Inchmahome Priory is located, an ancient monastery which dates from 1238 and was once used as a refuge for Mary Queen of Scots as an infant. The are many picnic spots where the beautiful landscape can be admired from, and the nearby Menteith Hills boasts a network of walking tracks. The lake is stocked with quality trout.
