About Nene Park (Ferry Meadows)

About Nene Park (Ferry Meadows)

Ferry Meadows is a country park at the heart of Nene Park, which stretches for around 10 km (16 mi) along the banks of the River Nene. There is a wide diversity of habitats attracting many species of birds, hence bird watching is popular.

A key focal point for the park’s many activities is Gunwade Lake, where kayaks, canoes, pedalos and row boats are all available for hire. A sailing club offers sailing and wind surfing tuition. Fishing is also permitted all year round on certain parts of the lake and there are facilities for disabled anglers. A miniature train ride visits many of park’s attractions.

There is ample opportunity for off-road cycling along kilometres of track, which includes a section of the National Cycle Network Route 63. Most of the main paths for walkers are well-surfaced and maintained, so suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
